Volunteer Hospital to host free breast cancer screening for uninsured women

October 06, 2026

West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital will host a free breast cancer screening event for uninsured women on Sat., Oct. 24, from 8 a.m. to noon at West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital, in Martin, Tenn.
The event, offered in partnership with West Tennessee Healthcare Kirkland Cancer Center, is designed to make important breast health screenings more accessible to women who may not otherwise have access to them.
Early detection is an important part of successfully treating breast cancer, and regular screenings can help identify breast cancer before symptoms develop.
“We want women in our community to know that not having insurance should not keep them from getting an important breast cancer screening,” said Kevin Decker, CEO of West Tennessee Healthcare Volunteer Hospital. “We hope women throughout our area will take advantage of this opportunity.”
If additional evaluation is recommended following a screening, the care team will work with participants to discuss next steps and available resources.
Appointments are required, and space is limited.
