South Fulton Middle School Lady Red Devils open season with victory over Carlisle County

The South Fulton Middle School Lady Red Devils were victorious against the Carlisle County Middle School Lady Comets 8-5 in their opening game of the 2026 season on Tues., Aug. 10. 
The Lady Comets opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two ground outs. The Lady Comets first got on the board when Paislee A. grounded out, scoring one run.
The Lady Comets added to their early lead in the top of the second inning after Khloe S. singled to center field, and Adlee B. grounded out, each scoring one run.
South Fulton Middle School flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring five runs on three hits to take the lead, 6-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a triple by right Olivia Morehead that drove in three.
Morehead earned the win for the Lady Red Devils, as the starting pitcher gave up five hits and five runs (three earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking four. 
Briley M. took the loss for the Lady Comets, as the reliever went three innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out five and walking three. 
Khloe stepped in the circle first for the Lady Comets. The righty gave up three hits and six runs over two innings, striking out three and walking four.
Morehead provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led South Fulton Middle School with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 2-for-3 on the day.
Eighth grader Aveyanna Johnson also collected two hits for the Lady Red Devils, while fellow eighth grader Emma Hamrick led the Lady Red Devils with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating seven walks for the game, and Johnson stole three bases.
Adlee B. provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Lady Comets with two runs batted in. Khloe S. led the Lady Comets with two hits in three at bats. Khloe S. and Karlee P each stole multiple bases for the Lady Comets). The Lady Comets ran wild on the base paths, collecting nine stolen bases for the game. The Lady Comets didn't commit a single error in the field. Paislee had the most chances in the field with 10.
Next up for the Lady Red Devils is a road game against the  Bradford on Thurs., Aug. 13 at 5:30 p.m.
