Fulton County Schools kicks off new year with staff appreciation, inspiration

August 19, 2025

The 2025-2026 school year began on a high note as Fulton County Schools hosted its Opening Staff Day, welcoming all faculty and staff for a morning of appreciation, motivation, and renewed purpose. The district also invited community partners and academic sponsors to join the celebration, reinforcing the strong community ties that support the success of its students and educators.
The event began with a special appreciation breakfast sponsored by the Fulton County Board of Education, where community partners were honored for their dedication and commitment to student success. The cafeteria was brightly decorated with gifts at each person’s place setting. The event served as a heartfelt welcome back and a chance to reflect on the mission ahead.
New Superintendent Ellen Murphy, in her first official address to the entire Fulton County Schools team, delivered an energizing message centered around this year’s theme: “Bee” the Difference – Cultivating Excellence: Every Child, Every Day.
“Our focus this year is on setting high expectations for all of our Pilots while ensuring every classroom and school is a place where students and staff feel safe, supported, and inspired to learn and grow,” Murphy said. “We’re not just aiming for achievement — we’re cultivating excellence.”
Superintendent Murphy outlined her vision for the upcoming year, emphasizing the importance of fostering an environment that balances academic rigor with emotional and social support. She encouraged educators to lead with purpose, passion, and positivity, reinforcing the district’s collective responsibility to impact “Every Child, Every Day.”
Following Murphy’s remarks, the staff were treated to a special performance by David McCreary, a motivational speaker and magician known for his energetic and humorous style. McCreary delighted the audience with several magic tricks, blending laughter and life lessons in an unforgettable presentation.
“Laughter is essential,” McCreary shared with the crowd. “It creates connection, builds trust, and opens the door for real learning. Don’t forget to find joy in what you do — every single day.”
The combination of inspiration, appreciation, and a little bit of magic left staff feeling energized and ready to tackle the new school year with renewed enthusiasm. With a strong leadership vision and the support of the wider community, Fulton County Schools is poised for a year of growth, excellence, and meaningful impact.
As the district embraces its mission to “Bee” the Difference, it’s clear that students and staff alike are ready to take flight.
