The Fulton County Transit Authority was been awarded $854,500 from the Commonwealth of Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Office of Transportation and Delivery.
The award is part of a $7 million grant received from the Federal Transit Association.
According to FCTA Executive Director Kenney Etherton, the money will be used for the purchase of five new vehicles, as well as to purchase property adjacent to the FCTA offices and garages, with some funds to be utilized for renovations, environmental studies, architectural and engineering services, roofing on the proposed building purchase and parking lot upgrades.
Etherton estimates approximately $400,000 of the grant money will be used for the property purchase and upgrades.
